American Communications Services, Inc. (ACSI) was a leading facility based integrated communications provider to businesses. The company owned and operated digital fiber optic networks and offered a variety of telecommunications services to other communications providers, businesses, governments, and consumer end users in selected target marketed principally in the southern and eastern United States. After a successful IPO underwritten by Goldman Sachs, the company’s name changed to e.spire and the common stock was traded on the NASDAQ as ESPI.
